Challenger script from long ago
« on: September 09, 2014 - 10:38:31 PM »
Back in my younger years around 74-75', I was searching for parts for either my 66Mustang or my previous extremely ugly 65' Fairlane. I was in Banks junkyard in the boonies outside Woodbridge Va. I came across a totaled Bright blue Challenger (72-74). I looked it over and decided to take off the Challenger fender emblem. I knew some day I would have a challenger but did not realize how long it would be. I also picked off a 383 emblem from another car there though I don't remember what it was, maybe a Roadrunner.
Anyway here I am in March 2014 about to retire and I finally buy a Challenger and wouldn't you know it has a 383.
I kept those two emblems with my car"stuff" for all these years. About 3 years ago I had the bright idea to break off the pins in the Challenger emblem which otherwise is in very good condition and tape it to one of my garage cabinets.
Wouldn't it be cool to take the emblem and put it on my Challenger when done?

Wish I had thought better about breaking those pins off.

I know for a fact that 71 was stick on, I have the original 70 fender pin style with holes on the drivers side and a 71 on the passenger side and when buying new emblems, I saved a bundle and just went with stick the stick on ones.......

And my 71 HemiChallenger was pinned so some time in 71 it changed.. I've got two sets of vintage pinned style emblems sitting on my dresser.. along with about 30 other old emblems...

I know the 70's fenders were pins and the trunk was stick on. My car had all the original emblems on it when I got it.
