rallye wheel centre diam
« on: October 08, 2014 - 05:34:34 PM »
Team, I'm considering buying a set of 14x6, rallye wheels and want to put the centers into wider rims with different bs. Question is could someone with both 14 and 15" rallye wheels advise if the center disc diameter are the same, ie will a 14" centre fit into a 15" rim?

As long as they are both large bolt pattern they will fit. I assume you are looking at large bolt pattern wheels...

yes they are both the large pattern but, I want to cut the centre disc out of the rim and re fit it to a larger width and possibly diam rim, i.e, use the dish/disc/center cut out of the 14" rim and weld it into a new wider 15" rim

Misunderstood... Thought you just wanted to swap center caps... :clueless:
I had 14" ralleys before changing to Year One 17x8 front and 17x9 rear. Much better rubber available for 17s.
They have 72 style Acorn Centers available too.
The Firestone Indy 500 Wide Oval Ultra Performance Summer tires have great grip. They have a "W" Speed Rating to 168 MPH

Still not quite there Cudaragtop sorry, if I have a set of 14" Rallye rims of my 73 Cuda for eg. I want to put them in a lathe and cut the weld that joins the centre disc to remove the 14" diam rim section, then buy a set of 15" rims that dont have any centres in them, then weld the centers from the 14" rims into the 15" rims, what I need someone to do is if they have both the factory 14" and 15" rims on hand, can they measure the centre diam to know if it it by chance is the same diam.

Just measured the centre plate width on my 15" rallies & it measures 31cm across. Can't help you with the 14" though.
cheers....

Thanks Mate, perfect, I have 14's so I can compare, currently thinking about getting a second set and putting them on say 15 x 9 rims until I can choose a set of mags

Will be interested to see how it works out, I think I have some 9" steel wheels here myself, might have to measure them up for same purpose.

Keep us posted.

It would look like the 14" centre is the same diameter, so it should be easy to cut out the centre of a set of 14"s and weld them into 15" rims, the width problem is realy on the trim ring, the wider you go the more the gap between the back edge of the trim ring to the centre disc as such
