question: fixed 1/4 window hardware
« on: October 06, 2014 - 11:25:54 AM »
on the rear 1/4 windows ... I never remember them working, but now that the panels are off I see full mechanisms (need to look closer to make sure everything is there - but I see frames/rails, gear .....) .... did they still put the full mechanisms in, even if they 'locked em' closed for fixed window models like mine?? neither roller will move, so either they are both frozen solid or they locked it from moving. I'm wondering if I can make them functional 'as is', or if I'll need some more pieces.

thoughts anyone???

I don't think cars with "fixed" rear windows had regulators. Is your car an A93 car ?

that's what I thought too, the hardware shouldn't be there for my plain Jane base model ..... but it's in there, I could even see the roller gear.

nothing special on mine, truly the basic bare bones model .... which is why I'm wondering if they just added the hardware to all cars??

Your car doesn't have A93 unless it's on the buildsheet so it should have roll down windows :2cents:

Here is the A93 hardware.

excellent! So they are probably just frozen solid (I emailed my dad to see if he remembers one way or the other if they ever worked). I just figured the bare bones model would be as cheap as possible and they would have fixed it in place.

I haven't found my build sheet yet (there was one for another bare bones model, same engine and color combo, a few hundred off from mine in the back seat ... I'm still holding some hope for finding it in one of the other possible locations. since I found 1 in my LA built car, I'm hopeful to find the actual one)

thanks for the input everyone!

great pic CH, that really helps too. mine certainly has more hardware to it

Just got through getting mine to work a little better and believe me , they are flimsy at best.  Go slow and lube the piss out of everything with liquid wrench or whatever, you just might get lucky and get them to work
