Stock exhaust photos
« on: December 09, 2014 - 10:19:57 PM »
Does anyone have clear photos to post from under the car of the stock dual exhaust hanger brackets in place on a Cuda?  Right now I am referring to the ones mounted under the rear seat.  On the left side of mine there is a bracket in place but someone bolted a universal rubber/cloth "tether" hanger to it, and on the right there is just a tether lag-screwed to the floor pan.  See attached photo.

Thanks in advance

Sorry no photo but it's pretty simple...on the left one of the hangers below bolts to the bracket you have
On the right it bolts to the shock frame.., second pic,

reproductions available.  http://www.accurateltd.com/70-74-383440-Big-Block-Complete-Exhaust-System_p_147.html

Thanks!  So there is no resonator hanger bracket on the right side under the rear passenger seat, as there is on the left side?

Not on my '73... I have seen pictures of earlier models that had the bracket, not sure if that was stock or added.

I wonder why the left side pipes were afforded more hanger support than the right  :clueless:

I assume these hangers are on both sides. ahead of the mufflers?   https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTRhDZuQvtseaI5BVyuu6P6f5Sljtu9OK0O98_INMbeSi4O-isI

Are they the ones that are bolted up to the flat stock W/studs that are inside the trunk?

on my 73 cuda, the whole exhaust system is supported by two hangers on each side, on the left, a hanger behind the rear seat and a bracket coming off the side of the chassis rail just in front of the shackles. on the right, a hanger on the shocky cross member and again like the left, a bracket from the chassis rail just forward of the spring shackle. So, both sides had no more or less support, just a slightly different location,,,,, not sure of the reason for this though.

Ahhh I got it, so nothing under the rear seat on the right side.  That strap comes off and the screw hole gets welded up.

Thanks guys!

This made me go look under my car even though I was already pretty certain.
My 1970 318 (originally single exhaust) HAS the welded bracket on the right side under the rear seat BUT nothing there on the left side.
Looks like that was changed in later years. I bought a left side bracket from Dales for when I redo the exhaust with TTI stuff.
