Heater Box Color
« on: December 16, 2014 - 07:56:09 PM »
Hi Guys,

Restoring my heater box and I found that the Heater Core Housing Cover was in REALLY bad shape.  I bought a new one from Classic Industries.  This reproduction piece fits well and is complete, but is black in color.  The rest of the heater box housing is original and a dark brown color.

Has any one run into this?  I am not sure if I should leave it as is, paint it all black or try to match the brown.

Looking for suggestions please :1zhelp:

If I was going to paint it....I would most likely choose a cast grey colour or something and paint both pieces.
I've never used those new fronts, too bad about the colour :'(

Alan, yes, it is too bad about the color.  But, like I said, the fitment looks good and the part feels solid.  Picture attached.

Definitely a bummer about the color of the repop. If it were me, I would leave it as it is. Trying to match, something to what the original color was, would probably end up a muddied up mess. Plus once its under the dash, I doubt a handful of people would ever know it was different.

Thanks for the advice.  The more I think about it, the more I also think leaving it alone is the best thing to do.  When it is mounted, the cover is the predominant piece that can be seen and it does have the right feel and texture already.
