wiper switch to match my harness??
« on: December 03, 2014 - 08:16:24 PM »
Guys, I am at my wit's end with this problem. Bought my  73 chally at Carlisle 5 yrs ago, took it to my buddy's body shop to get floor repaired, it never left the shop---everything either new or rebuilt, almost ready to start, putting dashboard together, the switch that came in car [don't know if wipers ever worked] has only 5 terminals, my harness and wiring diagram has 6. My incorrect switch is # 3488773, manual says it should be #3621666, checked it out, it DOES NOT match my harness. I've been searching EBAY for weeks, looking for a 6 pin sw to match my harness, but no luck. See pictures of my harness, tracings of the connectors and detail from wiring diagram. Anybody out there have connectors like this that could provide the correct switch #??? Very frustrated and desperate!!  Thanks, ARTNADAM   email--kart47@ptd.net---717-648-3070

That is a two speed connector...... Same as I have on my 70

All of the wires are the same for a 2 and 3 speed switch, just pull the terminals and swap them into the correct connector

I have 2 three speed switches laying around here, one good and one questionable.... PM me

This should help you identify the various switches

I can't speak for '73 (own a '70) but on my car there's one switch terminal that has no wire going to it and there one wire on the big connector that doesn't go to anything. Here's mine: 1970 variable speed switch.

sorry guys, I neglected to tell you that I have a two speed motor----I don't understand why the diagram shows the pattern and wire count to match my harness, but there doesn;t seem to be a switch to match???  Are there other switches besides the four shown in the pic??
Thanks very much.....Art

As Jaybee alluded to, the connector doesn't need to actually match, all connections. The connector you have will fit on more than one style of switch, so a connection may, or may not be needed on the harness. If I remember right, all of those switches connect with the same harness connectors. Your connector is the same a Jaybee's, which is the same as mine, and they can go on any of those four switches.  :2cents:

Guys, thanks for the collective advise!! My car came with the third switch in BeeJays post, and the wiring arrangement and wire colors match the next pic, just a little different shape plug four the four wires. When I get the dashboard back in the car, ill try the less then all wires pluged into the switch and see what happens.  Thanks again, Art
