Bulkhead Connector?
« on: December 14, 2014 - 07:43:08 PM »
Looking for an E-body bulkhead connector (if I can't epoxy the one we have).  When we got the car the two thick alternator wires had burnt up their sockets in the connector.  I was able to repair one with JB-Weld but the other was worse.  I called a couple of places that make the harnesses, but they won't part with the bulkhead connector separately; they'd rather I buy a new harness for $550.  If anyone knows where I can find an unburnt connector, please let me know.  I don't need the plugs.

Looking for the part you can see from the engine compartment (with the female spade connectors).

Mike (Topcat) offered to look through his stuff for one, but I JB-welded each side of the  burnt connection, and I think it should be fine.  I plan on taking Johannes' and Bullitt's advice and connect the black alternator wire to the red starter relay wire in the engine compartment.   Then the only current going through the patched up connections in the bulkhead connector  would be for ammeter. Thanks to all who chimed in (so quickly).
