Does anyone have intructions on attaching the headlights back to the header panel? I took everything off when i sent it off for body and paint. It's been so long. I forgot how to put everything back on and adjust the headlights. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have a 70 Challenger service manual with several pages associated with the headlight assembly and aiming.  I don't know if it's identical to a '73 but I would think they would get you going in the right direction.   If you want copies of these pages, PM me your email address for a digital version or mailing address for paper copies.

There should be 2 rectangular openings at each h/lamp mounting spot where the adjusters shove in from the rear. You'll also note a small screw hole for the retaining spring if memory serves. The h/lamps use a 2 point mount and one spring system. You can start the h/lamp buckets in the aimers by hand and a piece of stiff wire with a hook bent in it's end will pull the spring out to hook in the notch in the mounting ring. The h/l's are aimed by turning the aiming screws until The lights align and are on target. There were lots of sealed beam aimers in the day, so ask around at any old garages and they may dust one off for you; otherwise, the garage door makes a pretty good aiming tool High beam or 2 prong lights go in the inner position and low, 3 prong lights go outboard. hope that helps.

The buckets are color coded so they get put in the correct place.  Is there any paint left on yours?

Oh great! I painted my buckets. I have no idea which  goes where. Is there any other way to tell?

Thanks anlauto! I have two sets of four from two different cars. One set is painted and one set is not.  I see the stampings on both but it is faint on both sets. If i'm correct This is what I see.

Hi-5-Rt-118 = high beam right side inner
Hi-Lo-5-Rt-122 = low beam right side outer
Hi-5-Lt-119 = high beam left side inner
Hi-Lo-5-Lt-123 = high beam left side outer

The last one should have been

Hi-Lo-5-123 = Low beam left side outer.

I made a mistake. Just for future reference for anyone looking at this thread.

The high beams are always in the inside position on N American cars and the aimers are usually at the top and on the outside of the buckets- outside being away from the centre of the car. Think of the old 64 Thunderbolts and their ram air tubes in the inside (high beam) position. The outer or low beams have 2 filaments, that's why they have 3 prongs and they light for both low AND high, while the 2 prong inners have only one filament and  light only for high. Capice?
