Use carpet pad with DynaMat ?

I bought some DynaMat during a 25% off sale. I needed something to help with the heat in my car which is really bad even with the heater hose shut off.

I'm in the process of pulling out my carpet and the stock style padding is stuck to the carpet and floor boards so its tearing all to pieces.

Should I replace the pad and use it in addition to the DynaMat or just use the DynaMat ?

I decided that if I need to get a new pad, I might as well get a new carpet/pad. I have found that Year One and Classic Industries both carry them. Is there a better quality source ? I checked Legendary Auto Interiors and their website doesn't show any carpet.

Get ACC carpet, RockAuto has the best price.
Check out the plush if you're not worried about originality.  Much nicer than the granny still loop these cars originally came with.

If you are not committed to the stock loop carpet, consider AAC Super Plush Cut Pile Essex. I got it with the heavy Mass backing. Together with the sound deadening it's much quieter. I can tell there is less heat transfer through the firewall and floor too.

Dynamat is primarily for sound deadening. Apply it directly to the sheetmetal to prevent "boom". A layer of foil backed material that has an air gap is ideal for keeping heat out or AC in. Reflectix from Home Depot is an inexpensive option. It should go on top of the Dynamat.

I also have the Reflectix stuff in my car. If you want to use it, you need to put another layer of Dynamat on top of it to weight it down. At least at the traffic area. Otherwise they make funny noises when you step on them.

If you want to throw money at something you never see then dynamat and liner is the way to go.

If you're like me and would rather spend the cash on something more useful the get frost king duct wrap from home depot. Way cheaper and you can double or triple up if you wanted to. And it works just as well as a sound deadener for doors and roof. I was worried about the roof pieces coming down but 4 years and gravity hasn't pulled it down yet

On the sold Cuda, black int, red exterior heddman headers and no duct wrap.... Same hot days, the car was unbearably hot and basically only driven in the morning and the evening.

Thanks for the suggestions. I already have the DynaMat and will be buying new carpet. I'm still undecided what else to use though.

Will I need to use spray adhesive on top of the final insulation layer so the carpet lays properly and stays in place ?

The biggest issue may be in using both is the thickness of the two combined:  It doesn't take much before you dont have clearance in the base of the gas pedal, able to stuff the edges under the door sill mouldings, kick panels. etc

Thanks for this tip....Seems they do have the best price I could find on line for ACC carpet. I also found a 5% discount code on line too !

I like how their web site can be read in CDN dollars, although I don't know how accurate they are today.
