Mighty Demon 850 worth the trouble?
« on: January 04, 2015 - 11:42:36 AM »
I'm considering a used mighty D 850 for a project,is it worth the investment or should I just move on? I will be rebuilding it and hope to replace my old 4150.

they never seemed to have a good rep....might be the reason they went bust.  I think I saw a comment that the current models from Holley (who bought them) has been re-calibrated..

too many bad things said
72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

If you already own it try ti out , if not don't spend |$$ on it , I have seen them both ways , some work great others are a nightmare , you can tune them every time you drive it & by the time you park it it will need tuning again , I keep hearing that they were nto cleaned well & cuttings are left inside critical metering passages , if it will not tune , scrap it !

I wouldn't bother. Very tempermental, never in good shape out of the box... Just a big hassle. There are others that will work as well with less heartache.
