« on: November 19, 2014 - 11:43:29 AM »
Since I can't find any quarter belt moldings for my 70 challenget convertible. Would It be possible for someone to make them out of the 70 challenger r/t SE Hardtop quarter belt molding. Thanks. Mike

i am no expert -
but I think the belt molding for the door/hood/fender and quarters are the same from hard top and convertible.

I know there is a slight difference in the quarters, but I always thought the tops by the glass were nearly identical.

hopefully someone will chime in who knows better.

Not even close..

They currently reproduce the short trim, if you have the beltline moulding package which it sounds like you do the trim was reproduced but I don't currently see it listed, might be worth giving Mike Ross @ BEA a call....

As far as modifying hardtop trim, the vert stuff is die cast & the hardtop stuff is stamped stainless, if you've got crazy metalworking skills it might be possible but if you had those skills you wouldn't be asking, you'd have already done it...

I looked up the classic industries website. They only have the short ones. I need the longer spears that came on cars with the se trim package. Thanks anyway.

If you're looking for the LONG spear ones for a 'vert w/the SE moulding package, no one remakes them anymore.

Jerome Verbit used to, but don't any more.

You can maybe try to get Cuda ones to fit, but no way to modify them much because their pot metal.  If you can't get it to work, then you're better off putting short ones on and removing all the hood/fender/door mouldings.

Yeah I heard about Jerome but I can't get ahold of him. Can't see me taking off all that beautiful belt molding. Will put 71 Spears on if I have to with the screw until I could find them if ever. Thanks

I bought a set of these for my Chally-it also has the SE option package from Verbitt. I paid a pretty penny for these back in the late 90's. Something like 200.00 a side but they were nice pieces and fit perfectly and still look great today. Have you called around to some of the major suppliers of used parts like Tony Dagastino or some of the other that advertise in Mopar Collectors Guide or Hemmings.
It is worth a shot if you can find a good used set and have them re-chromed.
Good Luck
