The rear bushing is a floater so you do not put pressure on the rear housing & crack the loop off , I think the front brackets is bent back & rear spacer is too short causing the pulley to sit too far back .

I had the wrong bushings like you and cracked the rear mount.

Get the right ones and fix the bracket and you will be fine.

Thanks guys, so the tube spacers should be snug up against that floating rear bush like they are in the photo correct? The front mount should be tight on the front lug, correct?
Does anyone have the correct length of the rear tube spacer that is between the head and the alternator please, I will turn one up and then deal with the front bracket

I put new spacers in last year and used stainless steel tube. It looks much better than painted IMO. Sorry, my car isn't here for the winter so I can't run out and measure it for you.

Hah!! I remembered my spare parts container is here. The inside one measures 3/4" (19mm). That's on a 340. Yours looks longer. Different alternator  :clueless:  :dunno:

Thanks BM, yeah I quickly made this one up as the piece that was in there was an old steel conduit joiner, I want to turn one up and right now it is 1.250 long, the front bracket appears factory, the alternator is from a 76? mopar, it's probably only maybe at worse 1/4" out of alignment with the other pullies at worst

I can tell you that the interior bushing has no gap in there. If you look at your picture at the back of the interior bushing there is a gap which will allow you to pull it closed but then snap the rear mount.

I think you need something like this:

Alas I have big blocks so maybe someone else can take some measurements for you.

thanks guys, I turned a thick wall tube 1.230" long to go between the cyl head and the alternator sleeve, this not only spaced it correctly but being thick wall and turned, helps hold the alternator square, all looks great now thanks for your help everyone. :2thumbs:
