Never installed a deck before but it cant be that hard. I got a Alpine MP3/CD player that will be here tomorrow, and i was wondering if there is anything special to mounting it into the dash opening. Or will just using the metal sleeve that comes with it work.....

thanks

I didn't have any trouble putting an after-market unit in my dash. As long as you know where you are getting the power from, it shouldn't be a tough job. Good luck.

I replced the deck in my car no problem, but one mental note when we did my brother's Cuda the new face of the radio was just big enough to cause a little interferance with the lower right hand corner of the dash where it starts to come up and around - we then just brought the radio out like an 1/8 inch to clear as oppesed to any dash/trim cutting.

We had the exact same situation BB73.  But, it was simple enough.  Good luck Goody.  Let us know if you have any specific questions.

I think the metal sleeve that comes with the alpine should be okay.  i would solder all connections.  if you have a one speaker dash you'll have to decide whether to put it on the front right or front left channel.  doesnt matter unless you're listening to a stereo mix like when Jimi's guitar is only in one channel.  if you have a 3 speaker dash, i would use inline highpass filters to not send the low frequencies to the little 3" speakers.  Use the 6x9's in teh rear deck for that.  good luck!
