Background - 1) a few years ago I bought a Thrush side pipe set off ebay. They have 4" finned aluminum pipes, and cast aluminum downturn tips with the Thrush logo in them. Exit in front of the rear wheels.
They had restrictive pipes and 4 foot long mufflers in them. They came with chrome heat shield/louvered covers with the Thrush logo stamped in them - never been installed, look brand new.
2) A few years ago I bought reproduction big block HP exhaust manifolds from Year One. They look to be coated (?), have all mounting hardware and gaskets, even the heat riser assy. for pass. side
3) TTI sells down pipes that bolt to the HP manifolds.
Looks like a plan coming together? I plan on using a 2 1/2" exhaust, with chevy style 3 1/2" (inside diameter is smaler, but still large) chambered exhaust pipes running most of the length of the Thrush tube, wrapped
in fiberglass to prevent rattles.
I know most aren't fans of side pipes on Mopars, but I like the look.
Soon, hopefully, I will get my income tax refund and start on my stroked 400 motor. Got one of the "beefy" bare blocks with extra meat, and it sonic checked ok.
4) I absolutely detest headers. Too many problems with them when I was young on my Charger. Way, way to many problems.
Sound like a viable plan? Any thoughts to improve on it? I'm thick skinned, fire away.
