'70 Challenger R/T - 383/auto - $23k or trade
« on: December 08, 2014 - 07:40:54 PM »
Man, it's been FOREVER since I've been on the board!

I saw this and had to post it.  If it belongs to someone already on here, my apologies for doubling it up.

This car belongs to a sailor at Naval Base San Diego who apparently lives in one of the barracks across the street from where I work.   :droolingbounce:  I first spotted the car about two months ago, but it didn't have a For Sale sign on it.  For those who remember me, this is what the car I used to own looked like from the factory - Hemi Orange, 383 Magnum with an auto.  It even has the black steelies I fitted to mine before I sold it.  I was always driving a bus when I saw it, so even though I wanted to check and see if the guy I sold mine to fixed it up and then sold it to a sailor who brought it out from Illinois, I never stopped.  Until today - when I saw the For Sale sign.   :22yikes:

It's pretty decent inside and out - a few rust bubbles, some obvious bondo work (check the paint flake on the leading edge of the hood).  The interior obviously includes some painted door panels and the seats are probably original, but not "correct."  I have no idea what the engine looks like or how it runs.  The sign on the driver's dash says he wants $23,000 or is willing to trade for a Harley + cash.

Much as I'd like to buy it, there's no way I could afford it, even if I had a place to park it.   :hyper:  But I had to put it out there if there's anyone on the board who wants to buy it.

Neat car, most likely NOT an R/T unless those gauges were added in there (not likely).

Oops - yeah, you're right.  I didn't look at the gauge package, nor the VIN to see if it was an R/T.

Yeah, I'd like it, but I can't afford it, even if it were substantially reduced in price, nor do I have a place to park it.

I've been so busy with other things these days, I haven't even thought to check in for quite awhile.  Nice to see the place is still buzzing with activity.   :dogpile:  I'll try to check in a little more often.   :2thumbs:

He says it was originally a 383 2bbl, not an RT. And he drives it 70 miles every other day

Hi Dutch (and everyone else.)  Yeah, I've been away awhile - a lot of changes in my life have taken me away from the Mopar/auto enthusiast world for awhile.  Divorce and re-marriage, some career changes and just life in general.  I'd like to get back to a place in my life to have a garage and a Mopar to work on, but I think that's probably a couple of years away yet.  I'll try to stop by more often.  Good to see the site is still going strong.   :ylsuper:

I love that stocker look...I had black police wheels on my 71, and added the argent rallye center caps just to make it different.
