I got a 73 barracuda that I got a 340 for and looking for a engine combo that runs good. When I say good I am saying 12's or lower. I am planing on a eagle set up with 4340 crank and  H beam rods made out of 4340 with a forged alum piston. Also running a voodoo cam. I already have a set of mopar performance heads 597 cast that are ported with 2.02 intake and 1.6 exhaust. Would any one give me some ideals on if I am heading the right way on the motor. I know about the Tranny which is a 727 and the gears will be some where around 3.92 I am thinking. Any info could help and engine combos in the past and how they ran. I want to know some times with the combos please. Thank you
Its just a little 340 with a miss

Which cam and s[ecs please?

Also how about the intake carb and exh options?

It sounds like you should be there if you get tractiion.

Going to need a decent convertor too, something in the 3000 rpm range, I like a 800 AVS style carb and a air gap intake. Decent TTI Headers too.

yes a 3.91 posi 8 3/4 gear should be enough depends on tire sizes and sus[ension too.?

Looking at running the Voodoo cam with a .533/.552 lift, a 242/252 Duration
I got a 750 Holley 4150 series 4 corner idle no choke clean bore
intake thinking on a air gap, but this could change
Converter for the 727 will be around 3500 for the cam, I know this sounds like a lot but the way I look at it is I will have my foot in it most of the time and not much street time.
headers I am doing full length 1 3/4" primary with a 3" collector
I also plan on doing a small wet spray at 150.
I have most of the parts just trying to see if any one has ran any combos like this so that I will know if it is worth it or go with something diff.
On the above stuff can change easy the motor not tho.
Thank you on any input.

Sould work? Who is the convertor from?

More than just stall speed, they can be loose, tight etc to lock and make  abig diff too.

I think you look decent buddy should do in 12s.

Suspension, tires traction etc are going to be key so that you have a great 60 foot time.

the 1st 60 is the most important for 12s and under..

On the heads I went with taller chevy narrow stem valves 2.08 intakes and spring seat etc to get perfect installed height. My cam is a solid crane and closer to 600 lift. I make over 550 hp at 6300 on my 416 stroker. :)

this is in a 64 Dart, she runs mif to high 10s, but still can not hook.

Are you installing frame connectors too?

Car has gone a little different route.
Motor is 30 over and 10:1. Heads are the same. Went stock on lower but Pistons. Cam is a comp solid with 290/292 duration. Have 1.6 ratio roller rockers.
Stall is 2800-3000 from transmission specialty. Also has a gear vendor on 727 now with 3:91 in the rear. Running a 275/60-15 on the rear.
Car is almost done mechanically now. Hope it will drive ok.

I did end up changing things a bit so that I can drive her on the street. Went to the track last year and wow. I am behind times. I am not old by far but a 12 sec car use to be something to be proud of and you could bracket race. Not these days. That is why I went with the above set up. I am very happy with how it sounds and snaps the go go peddle. I been looking at getting a set of sub frame connector and also to be on the safe side doing a drive shaft safety loop.
I worked in auto shops many years and now this is just a hobby. Wish I could do body work like the rest of these guys on here.
