Ignition cylinder HELP --------
« on: January 29, 2015 - 09:07:20 PM »
I am restoring the steering column. I have it removed from car.

Wheel, crush can, switch mechanism, etc all out.

I can see the ignition switch and cylinder and internal parts,,,,lot of slop in the switch when I turn it.

What all should I replace ???? It's dirty and lots of slop,,,,,is this a good thing to replace??

There is a wire harness going to some type of mechanism,,,,that looks to hook to the ignition cylinder,,,,,

Can you guys tell me what should be replaced and where you would recommend getting the part.

I assume I can use my existing key ?

Thanks for any info and the correct terms for what I am trying to describe.
