As someone who is also to old and beat up to crawl around on my back :violin:

I purchased the MaxJax portable 2 post lift when Costco had them on sale last year for 1995.00 inc shipping.
If you go this route you definitely want to check your concrete slab. Once I started drilling holes I realized that my slab (typical mid 80's subdivision) was not 4" thick reinforced like it was supposed to be, so I ended up spending a grand on a 4'x12' 8" thick slab of 4000 psi concrete tied into the existing floor. Probably overkill but makes me feel better when I am under it. Also if you go this route use the epoxy anchors not the wedge style that come with the hoist.
As to the lift height, I have a standard 8' ceiling in my garage and I can get my Cuda all the way to the top (48" lift height) A side mount garage door opener gives you more clearance as well. When your done using it you can store it against a wall, or just leave it installed. Invest in a good rolling seat and your ready to go!
A full height lift might be better but this has been one of the best investments I have made to work on my AAR.

"There's no such thing as putting a '70 AAR 'Cuda exactly where you want it. The 'Cuda isn't interested in such things, for they require finesse. Finesse asked the 'Cuda out to dinner once, but the 'Cuda stood it up to go drink beer under an overpass with her hot little sister. As far as this car is concerned, finesse can go stuff itself."

Originally That was the lift I was going to go for, But when they jacked the price from $1600 to $1900 I held off , looking for a deal. The only deal I got was the price then went to $2300..LOL
My concrete was poured with the idea of putting a 2 post hoist in. The crew that poured the floor screwed up and forgot to order the sand to go under the concrete. The city inspector was in a hurry so he made them keep poring concrete and adding re-bar until it was to the finished level. This made the slab 6-8" by the doors and over 10"  opposite the doors. Its been 20 years now and I don't even have a small crack in the floor. When I was putting in my tire machine, I used 6" anchors and never did drill thru.

Anyway I ordered the Quick-Lift the other day. Got it for $1000 less than the Maxx -Jax (at least around here). Now if it would just get here!
