Heater control panel removal
« on: February 03, 2015 - 06:04:33 PM »
Trying to remove the heater control panel for restoration. How do you get the knob of the temp slide control? I tried pulling hard but it doesn't want to co-operate. Also should there be a similar knob on the fan speed control?

I have a non-ac version of the panel.  It had a shaft and circular clips on the top and bottom that held the temp and vent sliders on.  Once the clips and shaft were removed, the sliders could be removed out from the front of the panel.  Perhaps the ac version is the same?

Murray, some of the oldies had a spring clip set at an angle that allowed the knob to go on and then bound it when trying to pull it off. They require a fine pick to get behind the knob and you have to gently pry the clip away a wee bit to allow the knob to come off. Has anyone got a photo of the back side of a knob or does Alan have any better input here?

Here ya go. The one I have is just like yours. Fan speed switch is the same. You will have to access the back of the switch to remove them.
