Where can I get this control valve

So I'm out looking at my valve set up today and I notice, there is no cable going to it. Search around the engine compartment, no cable. So I pull out the service manual and review the cable set up. According to the book, my temp cable goes to a blend door on the heater box under the dash, not to the control valve. Hmm, odd. So I look up the heater hose routing and it does not show a valve either.

So, it would appear there is no heater valve involved with my layout, yet someone had installed one at one time and used the factory style pinch clamps when they installed it. Is that right for a '74 Challenger with  factory a/c?

 The cable goes from the slider at the under dash AC to the valve in my 73. I think the valve is used for AC cars only. If it is heating only, then ma be the cable goes to the heater box.

Your right, it is an a/c only deal. I finally found it further back in the book. I got discombobulated by the nomenclature used on the later model books. This manual breaks them out into V, L ,B, J, P, D, C, and Y. FWIW, in this book, Cuda/Challengers are car line B and J.

Anyway, since my a/c doesn't work, I may bypass the valve altogether and worry about it if needed  when I convert the a/c some time in the distant future.

I have thought about adding in a valve to keep the hot water out of the Heater Core durring the summer to help keep the heat out of the passenger compartment.
My car is Non AC... 
Has anyone done that and did it help?

I did not have the valve for a long time and drove the car for awhile in the summer it's gets kinda hot in there with hot water going threw the heater core.

I added this valve.  I flipped it so the handle was face down. I could not find a smaller one, so it is not the most glamorous looking but it worked!

Take a look at a NAPA 660-1140 valve, it's black plastic so if you flip it upside down it doesn't stand out & grab your attention... It's cable operated so you can operate it from the drivers seat if you want or you can just leave the cable off & operate it from under the hood...

Another good option!   
If I can find a decent route for the cable I think I might opt for that.
There is a mix of stock and aftermarket under there already.
I'm thinking the Flow Towards cable would be the one vs the flow away from cable. The flow and the cable both run towards the firewall.
Does that sound right?

Either would work depending on which hose you cut... Stop the flow on either hose & the heater won't produce heat..
