I have used a couple specialty tools to work on Dana 44 & 60 differentials. The first tool is used to spread the differential axle housing 0.015 inch to remove the ring gear case. The second tool removes the tapered roller bearings from each end of the ring gear case. Both tools worked with no problems and as advertised. I was pleased that the bearing removal tool did not damage the roller bearings or shim packs in any way.
The housing spreader was from Creative Metal in Stevensville MT. The bearing puller was from Randy’s Ring & Pinion in Everett WA.
