Doing away with the front fender radio antenna

A hidden antenna, or even one designed to stick to a window ... run high into the a pillar or even though the a pillar and into one of the overhead channels works great.

I went with a hidden attenna, didn't even run it up the a pillar, just hung it under the dash. Works good enough for me.

I had one in an old jeep that was powered.
not a power antenna,  but had a fuse and amplified the signal.
it was located under dash and worked great.

I used to have a power am/fm/CB antenna... mounted on the rear quarter panel where the T/A-AAR antennas are located... that was many years ago.  Eventually, the stereo, under-dash equalizer/power booster, CB, all 5 speakers, and the antenna were removed... too much weight (75+pounds).

For those that don't want a telescoping antenna, and have a hoe in the fender,
Chrysler made a fake antenna plug. I bought a couple off ebay. Looks like a power antenna retracted.
I planned on using one of those internal antennas.
The only reason? When I was a kid, my dad took his Ford Galaxy 500 thru an automatic car wash and it broke off the antenna! lol.
I know that's not ever been a problem before or after, but he was pretty upset about it.

I shaved my antenna because didn't like the look. I'm going to hide mine inside a t/a spoiler.

I used them on a couple other cars where I shaved the antenna but on my Challenger, I'm keeping the stock antenna!

I have a power antenna in my Challenger that I am removing and replacing with a semi automatic one. The Auto one goes up when the radio is turned on which is ok, but it is far too tall for my taste. The semi automatic one lets you put it up as far as you like (ascetically or functionally). On my Cuda I got rid of the fender mounted antenna and put a semi auto antenna in the right rear quarter (like a AAR or TA). I also frenched it in so it is almost flat with the quarter panel. A lot of work but I think on that project it is worth it. I wouldn't do it to my challenger as it requires some welding and such but does look good.
