« on: September 05, 2015 - 08:51:21 PM »
Restoring a 73 cuda, converting to 440 with tko600, staying with oem ignition, want to buy a new engine harness, any reason why this one from year one wouldn't do?

Since your going big block & a 73 never came with a big block.. Might want to look at a 70-71 harness...

What ignition system are you planning to run? Will you be using Chrysler Electronic, MSD or other aftermarket? If I remember correctly, the 73 engine harness has the molded plug for the Chrysler Electronic ignition module and dual balast and the earlier models do not.

Standard Chrysler electronic ignition - I just went ahead and ordered it from year one so I could get the discount today.

And I think you are right re difference in the harness.  Should be good.  Hope :-)

Thanks!

I think you will be happy with the Year One harness. You may need to extend the wires to the distributor but that's about it. Good luck on the install!

Stick with the 73 small block harness....70-71 have a lot of differences. You'll need to extend the two distributor wires and maybe the coil wires :2cents:
I've taught you everything you know.....but I haven't taught you everything I know !
