I'm ashamed to admit, that I'm such an idiot - I wouldn't know what to say? I know a little about a lot - but not a lot about a little - if you get my drift. Not enough to keep up with Al, for sure.
I'm intimidated. You absolutely ROCK Al, but I don't think you need to be wasting your time with a numbskull like me.
You are so talented, and there are SO many people smarter than me.
OK. since you asked, and NO this isn't on a chat group, What would be your ultimate performer engine, daily driver street car using a factory "thick webbing" 400 block?
3.91 gears Randy Ring and Pinion, e-body '72 challenger, weld in sub frames and torque boxes and fender well supports, radiator support. Welded up k-frame (don't have that yet or the poly-lock mounts) and lower control arms, Stage 2 steering from Firm Feel, and the bolt on steering stabilizer.. EFI in the future. Don't have offset bushings yet. Got NIB Edelbrock IAS shocks (NIB). All sorts of stuff. Tried to match it all? I don't know.
I've got a bare bock, sonically checked. GV overdrive on a StreetFighter 727. Is this the stuff you are asking for? Got 90% of what I need, just need to get it installed. lol.
Apparently I'm working on the driveline first. No emergency brake system on the car when I got it. Would like to replace the brake lines and fuel lines since they are 40 years old, cheap.
Would like your input on the engine. I have a Holley Street Dominator for a b block, (400 stroked) and will most likely be using 440 source stroker kit. Will most likely go with retrofit roller cam.
Is bushings the lifter bores worth it? Have a girdle that has aluminum crank caps, so it will have to be align honed. Just musing.
Whatever advice you can offer will be greatly appreciated! Mods - move this if you need to.
Your thoughts?
