Need a couple measurements off a 70 Challenger
« on: March 11, 2015 - 12:47:06 PM »
My 70 Challenger had previously been in a front end accident and I am replacing the inner fenders.  I don't have any reference cars up here in Vermont to take measurements from.  Can someone with a 70/71 take a couple measurements for me ?  I'm looking for the distance between the inner fenders at the top, in front of the cowl, and the distance from the cowl face to the outside edge of the radiator support.  See the attachement for the locations I am refering to.

I will need to hang my front end sheetmetal to get the proper gaps before I weld everything, but it's nice to know that I am in the ballpark.

thanks
Chris

Between the inner fenders, my car measures 48-3/4". This measurement is consistent from the cowl area forward. My cowl is removed but the distance from the firewall to outer edge of radiator support is 41-1/2" (at center of support).

Our '70 Challenger measures 41 1/16 from the firewall to the forward edge of the radiator support.  Here are a couple of pictures you can maybe get some ideas from. They're both the front driver's side corner and the overhangs you can see are about 3/8".

Thanks guys,  I was measuring 41-1/8 from the cowl forward and 48-5/8" apart before I pulled the inners and radiator support. It's nice to hear that the sheetmetal was pretty much back in place before I cut it off.
