You can fix just about any part on your furnace.

The reason the hvac companies have a racket going is because there are some dangers to be concerned about.
I know here in Colorado we had some deaths because of simple exhaust pipes not being put back together properly.  That changed all our codes and I believe we are legally supposed to have a licensed professional do any of the work involving gas appliances. On any of the homes I build, I won't touch anything of that nature.  but on my own home, I have no one to kill but myself and my wife, so I fix everything when i can.

Most any company will over night ship anything you want.  So all you really have to do is find someone who will 24 hour ship.  The usps offers next day 10 o'clock to 12 o'clock for an extra 5 bucks.   Oh, your in Canada aye.  So maybe it's not that easy for you??

Thanks for all the input guys.

I get all the issues. If I thought I had to touch a gas line, I would leave it to the professionals.

I found the part I needed, and someone to sell it to me.

It took me all of 15 mins to replace it.  Heat is back on and the house is warming up.

Now I just need to thaw out my wife....

Jas, take some of the $1000 you saved and take her out to dinner and/or a show. You may be pleasantly surprised at how her understanding improves.

That is a great idea...but we took that money form our kids surprise trampoline fund...so maybe not.

Good news...the wife is talking to me!!

Good for you.  HVAC folks are gouging everyone.  I was charged $1100 in parts, total repair $1500.  After reading what he did and looked up part numbers, I could have purchased those parts for $400.  I believe in fair profit, but this is ridiculous.

Congrats Cuda Jas
There is nothing wrong with doing your own furnace repair as long as you replace a part with an identical replacement.
DIY heating appliance repair is often frowned upon by people in the industry because a surprising number of people modify the appliance to effect the repair. Creating unsafe or dangerous conditions.
For example, if the induced draft fan you replaced looked the same but only moved half as much air, you would likely end up with a carbon monoxide issue due to poor venting. But so long as you are careful to make sure they are the same, there is no problem.
