Didn't the 70's exhaust brackets have these welded to the underside and not bolted?

You're correct in 1970 the brake flex hose bracket was welded to the floor

I have one exhaust hanger bracket already welded (driver side) but there is nothing on the passenger side.

I'm almost sure the passenger side one is welded? I'll have to put up a pic.

NO E body ever left the factory with an exhaust hanger bracket welded to the floor on the driver's side, ONLY the passenger's side

I have a 73 Cuda, your first picture holds the brake flex hose to hardline connection bracket, the bracket is about 3" long from memory and hangs at an angle. The second photo shows two bolts/studs hanging down, the only thing they hold is the heat shield on a 73 Cuda. the muffler brackets come off the chassis rail beside that point.

Yep I had it backwards Alan.

So did they drill holes for the drivers side or Kinda wacky way to fulfill order for folks who ordered dual exhaust w/ tips.

Okay...   So if I understand this correctly (which I probably don't).   The bracket going through the trunk floor was never installed on the drivers side?   


What did the bottom of a factory dual exhaust car have that a single exhaust car did not?  I want to make sure that if anything needs to be welded to the bottom of the car.  We get that done before paint goes on.

If you're adding dual exhaust to your 73 and you want to use a 70-71 set up then you'll have the weld the bracket to the passenger side floor as shown above in HP_Cuda's picture AND drill four holes and bolt the driver's side bracket on. This is how all dual exhaust cars left the factory in 1970-71.
In 73 they used a different set-up on the passenger's side.
