'71 Barracuda Front Seat Location
« on: April 20, 2015 - 10:26:28 AM »
Does anyone have the measurements for the hole locations in the floor for the front seats?

I am also looking for the measurements for the mounting of the bright switch to the floor?

Any help is appreciated!

If you look underneath the car, there are brackets welded to the rocker panel that support the seat. You can see the holes where the seat bolts up. There is supposed to be square plates on the underside of the floor pan to support the seats on the inside two studs by the tunnel as well. :2cents:

The dimmer switch location varies...

Not sure if this will help but here are a few pics showing where the studs of the seat tracks go into the floor. I have bolts in it's place of those studs to show where the studs would go for the seats.

And here is where my dimmer switch is.

Where can I get the trim ring that goes around the dimmer switch?

Mine came with my carpet from ACC. I bet they sell them individually.

CudamanTom - Any chance that you can get some actual measurements of the hole locations for the seats?

My floor does not have any brackets for mounting.  I do however have the square steel plates that mount underneath the car.

The factory never used a grommet for the high beam switch.  They just cut a slit in the carpet and fed the switch through.

I asked for the location of the high beam switch when I was assembling my Challenger.  That thread should still be here.

Sure, it may be a day or so but I can do that.

So you have square steel plates but they aren't attached underneath the car?

Post a picture of what you have in the car from the underneath. If you're missing the supports I mentioned, you've got bigger problems :2cents:

 :iagree:

But per your request for measurements. Here is a pic of the underside of my 71 hardtop (currently on my new lift ).

The floor pans have been previously replaced but you can see what Alan was talking about (circled in yellow).
I measured the dimensions and added them to the pic. I hope it isn't confusing. Please keep in mind these are replacement floor pans so it might vary by a 1/4" or so because of placement/installation but gives you an idea. You should have the square plates with holes already in place.... I hope.

CudamanTom - Yes, that is correct.  I have new square plates that have not been installed yet.

Your picture is perfect.  Exactly what I was looking for.  Thanks!

The two brackets in the bottom of Tom's picture, the ones holding the fuel lines will give you the correct location of the seat. Just measure off of the inboard hole. :2cents:
