The owner and a good friend, called me this evening in a sort of panic.... First of all, his health is not great and could go quickly at any moment which is much more of a concern for me but whatever, we'll leave that. Anyway, he contacted GG and basically got scared about the dash tag issue. It's not that he is concerned about the cars legitimacy, it's that his wife, in the event of his death, could have a serious problem selling the car and could be stuck with an asset she can't sell for it's known worth or at least not quickly.

He want's me to trade him for my Challenger because with it having it's dash, fender and door tags, it will be an asset easier to move. I've spent countless hours and a few g's on the interior recently and it being my first car, I'm torn to pieces over here....

He also asked about the Charger and if it could possiblly be traded with cash on top.

?? :clueless: :dunno: :pullinghair: :banghead:

I dunno man... I understand your problem, but when he bought the car he was well aware of the vin problem, and he got the car for a very decent price...  I`m not so sure if I would dare to even ask my friend to trade it for his first car, if I were in his position....  doesn`t feel fair towards you at all.  He lays his problem in your hands.
I would tell him I`d help his wife sell the car when needed.  With no guarantee either.    :2cents:

:iagree:
I'm sure you would help the widow if it comes to that.

Sucks about your friend though. Hope things go as well as possible for him.

yeah tough position for your friend to be in, but buyer beware.  he sought your car out and got a good deal on it.  why doesn't he try to sell it instead of giving the problem back to you?

All great responses, thanks.

If I were to trade anything for the Cuda, it would be the Charger. I talked to the wife and IF, we were to EVEN CONSIDER the trade, he would need to put 18,000 in top for a total of 30,000 for the Charger, which is about 5 more than its current worth.

He calmed down and decided to simply have the WSP inspect the car and issue a new vin. He is aware how it affects the value but at least now he can sleep at night knowing the car is legit.....
