I won't disagree with that. And I'd love to get a grip. A better grip than the average BFG will provide. That's the problem. If you ever want to push the limits of your E body, you have to step up to 18" tires with the corresponding cost of new rims, or settle for hockey pucks. There is no middle ground at all.

It does pose an interesting question in my mind if a 225x15 V rated, 200tw, UHP tire could grip better than a 295x15, T rated, 360tw, all season tire.

As such, a UHP tire in 205 still won't grip much, if any, better, than a 295 T rated tire  with 300 treadwear.

Well, probably not, except you compare the 205 UHP to a 295 China tire. ;) Those are a risk of life in my eyes. At least the Cobra positions itself between those two categories. But a comparison of tire brands should at least be based on the same size, to really get it. Of course, having some steam rollers under the fenders will likely get you more grip than a pair of bicyle wheels. ;)

Don't understand all the whining..... about any tire out there is many times better than what we had when these cars were new...

:iagree:

I have forgotten to mention, that I am unfortunately bound to 14 or 15" rims and 225 tires at a max due to registration here. Any other dimension would make me lose the registration of the car as historic vehicle and cost me another 10k or so of tax to pay. Therefore, with this restriction of max 225 tires in mind, I guess it is valid to say any Conti, Michelin etc. provides more grip and better handling than a Cooper.

In the end it's the decision of each and every one of us.

BFG T/A  Cooper Cobra.....    nice tires for dry days.../roads  If it´s raining  these tires are a no go !  My Chally runs on 225/60/15 Uniroyal
Rain expert Tires....they are way better...even on dry roads.  Last year I drove back from the Mopar Nationals here in Germany...  it was raining cats and dogs....  and I drove on the German Autobahn with 80-90 mph   without issues.

Greetings Juergen
