Installing Firmfeel front swaybar
« on: May 28, 2015 - 03:47:52 PM »
I need to bolt/weld the swaybar mounts to the LCA's, since my car did not have a stock swaybar. Firmfeels directions say to have the car at rideheight, now, my suspension is in pieces and the K-frame is on a stand so I'm mocking up the LCA's and swaybar and attach the mounts. Does this angle on the LCA's look like approx. rideheight?  Anyone with a picture of an LCA with a Firmfeel swaybar mount?

The FSM gives the procedure for setting ride height.  The "factory" height is the difference between two measurements.  Measurement A is the distance from the ground to the bottom of the torsion bar adjusting blade.  Measurement B is the distance from the ground to the bottom of the LBJ.  A-B=ride height measurement shown in the FSM.  You should be able to set that up on your stands.  I think you'll find that the factory measurement will put the front end WAY up in the air though.  I didn't go by this measurement when I set my ride height.

You don't have to have the suspension at ride height in order to weld the tabs onto the LCA's.  You DO need the suspension at ride height before you tighten the LCA bushing pin and the sway bar end links though.(if you are using stock rubber bushings)

OK, I see, a bit higher on the LCA is no problem, as long as its not lower than this, if lower, then the measurement between the 2 points, bracket to bracket, (which is the width of the swaybar) gets smaller because of the angle. Found the FSM info on this, it says 1 3/16" difference between the 2 measuring points, I guess if I roughly set it around 1", at least I get a good starting point. Thanks guys!

I have pics with stock mount. Don't know if the firm feel mounts are different.

Great, that confirms the measurements I got, the Firmfeel bar works fine with the stock mounts also. Thanks!
