How to remove bulkhead connectors?

Is there some trick to unplugging the connectors on the engine side of the firewall bulkhead? I assumed that the two large white connectors would pull right out. Can't seem to remove them and I figured I'd ask before I break them.

Squeeze the ends in and wiggle them off

That's what I attempted to do....they don't want to move at all.

I've had to wedge a flat blade screwdriver between connectors to separate them on occasion

Use some WD-40 (with the battery disconnected) and spray to the connectors inside the wires. Let it settle for a while, then spray it again and then push the ends and pull them continuously from the sides (left and right), it'll come off..

Got it. Thanks for the support. I just didn't want to break it and wanted to be sure that it was supposed to come apart that way. I used a large pair of channel locks to simultaneously squeeze the ends in while I wiggled the connector off. Hard to believe it took that much coaxing. Thanks again.
