1970 K Frame Measurements
« on: May 24, 2015 - 08:07:09 PM »
Is there anyway to confirm that my K member is not bent?
I have several to chose from but I would like to check it before I blast and power coat it.
Any input is welcome.
Thanks

Only experience I have with bent K is where the strut rod goes through it. K can be bent backward if wheel hits a curb or something hard. Which pushes the control arm backwards.

I'd say just try and bolt it up to check if it's twisted and frame bolts don't line up :clueless:

Its not k frame specific, but there are some references to check in this thread: http://www.cuda-challenger.com/cc/index.php?topic=106373.msg1044413#msg1044413

Lay it on a decently flat floor and see how the arms measure to the floor, then I'd cross measure to the corners and check for consistency. Bolting it in will also tell a tale, as mentioned. The MkI eyeball is your friend as well.

I just welded mine and got worried that it got bent from heat, but I testfitted it to the car and it fits perfect. If you need any measurements I can do it since it's on my stand right now.

"MkI" was old Brit shorthand for "Mark one" or the first, original variant of something- in this case, your own, original, eyeball. In other words, look at it- carefully and critically, as the first order of business. Good luck
