Tach voltage Rallye dash
« on: May 28, 2015 - 09:28:22 AM »
Cleaning up the wiring behind the dash. Some previous owner has been very creative...

The tach in a Rallye dash, does it get 12 v or "reduced" v from the voltage limiter?

Hmmm, my FSM does not show a limiter in the Rallye dash (but the standard dash has one). Should there be a limiter in a Rallye?

Finally, the turn signal flasher relay, is it the same type of relay for the em flasher?

Thanks!

Rallye dash tach IS 12 volts.
Rallye dash SHOULD have a 5 volt limiter.
Not sure if the flashers are the same.

Highly recommend using a solid state 5v limiter.

JayBee, thanks!

Let me pick your brain some more on this. Have new gauges in so i want the voltage correct.

So:
tach (and clock) 12 V. Temp / oil press 5 V.
Fuel gauge? My old one works and it has 12V. By that i can safely assume that 12V is correct?

Pls also comment on the wiring hook up on the limiter.
Red / yellow wire 12 V in, black wire on top 5 V out. Correct?

Thanks, Jerry.

Yes, tach and clock are both 12v
Stock temp., oil, and fuel are 5 volts. I have no idea whats up with your fuel gauge.
Here's a picture of a stock rallye dash 5v limiter wiring. The empty spade connector on the limiter is for 12 volts.
The red/yellow (12v)doesn't look stock, it was originally black (wire# G1 - 18BK)
Top black IS 5 volts out.

Ok, now I got it. My fuel gauge is not stock, must be a 12 volt replacement from whatever... does not look as in your pic.

Thanks for clearing this up!
