Simple Solution To Gain More Leg Room - Brad to rescue
« on: June 07, 2015 - 12:13:51 AM »
After mentioning to Brad (Brads70) that I wish I had a few more inches to get driver's seat back ... but wanted to keep OEM seats, not start drilling more holes, etc .... he found the following (hope its ok to link from other site):

http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/7671904/site_id/1#import

Great tutorial - and Brad was gracious enough to fabricate the new brackets, and then paint them!

So this morning ... in about maybe 40 minutes ..... we removed seats, installed new brackets, re-installed seats ... and voila ... gained about 2 1/2 inches ... perfect for what i wanted.

The article linked mentioned that 70 model may have problem with seat belt mount preventing more than inch or so of travel back .... but didn't find that in our case.

We did it so quickly it gave Brad opportunity to advise me on how to fix drivers seat locking mechanism, find my MSD box, confirm engines intake and head type .... all before lunch .... :lol2:

Great thanks to Brad for all help and hospitality .... and if this link isn't a dupe - hope it helps some others!

I had a great time hanging out with Mark and his wife  and kids all week. Been to a cruse night almost every night of the week!  :2thumbs:

That seat mod was very easy, took no time at all! I sure love those leather seats!

I know .. lol .... it went so quick and simple (after Brad made the new mounts .. lol) ... we stood there looking at it ..... "maybe we should have taken some pics " ... but the link has good ones for process.

When I get back to car I will take pics showing how far seat goes back now (and you can see in relation to passenger side ... which we didnt do)

And oh .... you can't see new mounts or tell that the seat is modified once re-installed ... its all underneath the runner  ;)
