emergency brake cable removal

Anyone know the trick to removing this cable aside from cutting it off? I'm trying to slide the cable out through the trans cross member but it is captured on both sides.

There is a metal retainer that is installed into the frame rail hole to hold the cable.  You should be able to tap on the cable and push it back through the frame.

Thanks. It did take a lot of persuation with a hammer and flatblade but it finallly let go.
