all,
1970 Plymouth gran coupe barracuda steering column..

rebuilding steer column, but when I put all pieces back in the key cylinder and ignition switch travel is limited by the "wheel lock piece" (picture spring loaded tab) I matched all parts to ones that came out, all appear to be identical, but it does allow me to remove the key, because it cant rotate far enough.\
If I take this wheel lock tab piece out all works fine, any idea as to what could be the problem?

thanks

Is the linkage connecting  the transmission to the steering column in place?  It may need adjusting....  Grab the collar closest to the dash & rotate it fully counter clockwise As viewed from the drivers seat....
