transmission crossmember

AMD price is $400. Only my passenger side needs work. Would it be cost effective to fabricate one side to weld in?

The crossmember takes all the weight from the front end, and ties the front of the car together in my opinion. Play it safe and replace the whole thing if one side has rust issues. If it was just one small bad spot, then I might patch it.

Update:   welder says the actual cross member is fine. But it's just the short part of the frame that ties in under the rocker panel. 1/8" metal. Is there a  cap available to replace it or does it have to be pieced together?
