Well I got two very cool things...one a gift certificate that my daughter made that entitles me to a new tattoo at the shop of my choice.  The certificate is very cool and well done, and I have wanted some new ink for a very long time. NOw I just have to decide what to get and where.

The other "gift" I got was form my son.  He informed me on Friday that we had plans for Fathers day, and that we were going to three local car dealerships and a mall (one we do not normally go to) to explore.

Now you may be saying WTF!!! right now, but here's the deal.

My son is 8 and autistic.  He currently loves to look at cars and see what make and model they are.  When he heard that it was fathers day, he came up with this plan for him and I to spend time together ALL. ON. HIS. OWN.  My wife had no idea about it until I told her, and had no input.  I mean really all on his own.

That may seem like a small thing to most of you, but trust me this is a BIG thing for us.  We had a great time, I even threw in the local Dodge dealership.  We got out and looked at the cars at two of the dealerships, something we have not done before, and then had lunch at the mall.  All in all it was a great time!  I am so thrilled that he came up with it all on his own.

Jason,

I know exactly how you feel.  My daughter has Down Syndrome and she got right up came down and sang Happy Fathers Day to me and gave me a hand made card with what she thought was a gift card taped inside to the local pool store.  It was really one of their business cards that she took 2 weeks ago in preparation for Fathers Day.  But she didn't know.  The pool guy and I are friends so the next time I go in I will be using that as a credit card and he's all prepared.  The thought and preparation was huge on her part and so were the tears in my eyes.  One of the best Fathers Day Ever.

Dave

I can't touch that.

Thought I had had something significant to add but the previous updates completely changed the perspectives.

So here is my reverse of them. Called my dad who lives in another state to wish him happy father's day.  He answered.  This is significant because he is a paranoid schizophrenic. Got a couple of good minutes in and then here comes left field and he was done. Still good though. I take what I can get.

Other present was an email that my daughter was selected to varsity basketball team as a freshman going in. Their program is one of the top HS teams in the country.
