Will this fit my 340 with Quick Fuel 4 barrel?
« on: July 07, 2015 - 02:04:37 AM »
Will it fit? Are these the same? The first from Roseville says it's for 440-4 and the 2nd on Ebay says it's for 340 or 440 4 barrel.
I know they are not correct but I would like something capable of more CFM and don't want a Chrome round aftermarket cleaner...

If you have the original 4 barrel air cleaner assembly, you can modify it slightly to run on top of the QF carb and allow for more air. All you do is remove the lid and make you a new lid and tighten down the filter. I used a 14" filter in my 340 air cleaner assembly and it sits on top of a QF carb.

The best part of this option is just changing the lid for shows. Well and the low cost. :2thumbs:

Doubt it will fit under a stock hood. These were made for the fresh air packages on the B-bodies.
Mine wouldn't fit unless it has the TA opening.

There are guys that make custom dropped bases, you'd need this to lower it a couple of inches.
These air cleaners have a throat that is almost like a velocity stack.

If you need a measurement let me know, I have a spare base plate.

Spare baseplate huh?  :naughty:  what is it for a 383 or 440? Difference is the heights. What condition is it in?  Is the hole the same size as a Holley?

The Baseplate for a 440 and 340 should be the same from what I've read.
I guess I would need to know the total height from the top of the Carb mounting flange to the top of the air cleaner lid to know if it would fit under my hood. Then I would just need a lid and filter...  :2thumbs:

PM sent on the baseplate.

If it doesn't fit under the stock hood...I might be interested in the base for my ta clone as well...

I had one for decades under my stock R/T hood But 2 things here I had a stock intake & yes there are different heights of the neck where it sits on the carb , the 383 are much taller as the intake sits approx 1" lower , the 440 ones are more rare & have a shorter neck . Will a 440 one fit , most likely it will but it will depend on the intake height as well as the engine , all carbs are the same height at least

The intake on my 340 is an LD340 so it isn't all that tall but may be a little taller than stock.

440 one should fit easily , the LD is very similar height to the stock intake
