Just got off the phone with the guy who did the timing I asked him since he had to adjust the floats and the metering adjustment if he had touched any of the air bleeds on the inside of the carburetor and he said he did not. So does this mean that my surging and hesitation off idle can be alleviated by adjusting these accordingly?

the bleeds are one of the last things to adjust , the factory is generally very close .
I have a Holley tuning guide in the Archives section , showing what to adjust & in what order .
you need to have the base idle timing around 14* , disconnect the vacuum advance & leave it off ,
Get the engine running & set all the idle mixture screws evenly , keep going leaner [clockwise] until the rpm drops off then turn them back to where it runs smooth
Now find out what the manifold vacuum at idle in gear [if auto] is , if it is around 6" you may need a different power valve

I appreciate everyone's advice I had to put this on hold as I lost all my oil and my engine is dead....will return to this hopefully with a 360.

I have no idea at this point.

I Was driving down the road a touch of oil smell...i'd say nothing out of the ordinary I had just swapped the disto gasket so I thought maybe I needed to tighten it a bit more. Engine made an odd noise so I let off the gas from cruising speed, oil pressure shot up well over 120 psi on the gauge and oil just came out of every gasket imaginable, puked out the majority of my oil. I shut it down in the garage now with a giant piece of paper under it and what little oil I had left is now on that. I have been chasing oil leaks on this engine forever now, I have had it. Rip it out no point in rebuilding a 318 so I have a line on a 360 that was rebuilt 4 or 5 years ago.

I am pretty sure as an ex-Canadian resident you can understand the disappointment of losing your driving season.

the PCV valve also shot a ton of oil into my new carb that was what 25 miles on it?
