Sticker shock!!!
« on: July 01, 2015 - 08:32:35 PM »
Had to get a new battery for my gas welder this morning and man was I blown away!  $143.00 for a group 58 battery @ Advance Auto. Doesn't seem like it has been that long since you could buy a really good battery for $39.95 to $59.95. Anybody got a clue as to why battery prices  have gone through he roof?  :clueless: :swear:

You are going to hate me, and I am probably jinxing myself.  I bought an Optima Red Top in '98. I was going to put it in my Bronco. Well, that didn't happen. I put it in my Suburban in 2000. It's still there.

Hellish expensive at the time. Worth every penny. Has never let me down. Can't remember? $250? $275 or something like that.

Over the years - dirt cheap.

You can Thank the EPA for the added expense. Last year they shut down one of the biggest lead smelters here in the USA (Doe Run I think) for "Enviromental Issues" this raised the price for lead almost overnight. It's only going to get worse.

The only thing I would like to thank the EPA for is if they all just disappeared from the earth.  :swear:
