Dash ideas?
« on: July 08, 2015 - 09:43:08 AM »
I've been looking at options for the dash in my '70 Challenger resto mod project, and I came across something that I thought was very interesting and kinda cool. A company called Spade Kreations took an old Challenger and a new 2010 Challenger, and somehow (I really want to know how) married the interior of the new one to the body of the old one. Completely. The seats, center console, dash, instrument cluster, climate controls, the touchscreen display, everything. How is this possible?  :o

I imagine it would be horrifically expensive to do, so my question is, are there any aftermarket dashes and instrument clusters out there catering to the resto mod / pro touring crowd?

I think the coolest look out there is a white faced rallye setup with carbon fiber overlay instead of the fake wood

Yes, I've seen that and I think it looks pretty awesome. My thinking is I'll go with a set of Speedhut Legacy gauges with the Muscle lettering, white faced, black tick marks, with the carbon fiber overlay, but set up something like this: http://www.topspeed.com/cars/dodge/1970-insidious-dodge-challenger-ar100542/picture383639.html

Although, I think I'd set the second gauges a little higher than the gauges on the end, and a little lower than the middle gauges. I just like the arc look

Just dashes or ultimate rides is who makes the stock repops. You will want a steel core the plastic cores have been said to warp in the sun?  :dunno:
I went with speedhut gauges. I love them just finished the install. You are only limited by your imagination.

Looks awesome! Although, I don't think I want a stock dash, I'd prefer something like the new Challenger that's got a little more curve to it in the instrument panel, is set up for air conditioning, and I want to do a more modern style climate control control cluster and I'd like to do a touchscreen nav center and radio. I guess mine is going to be a mostly custom job
