Disc/drum Master cyl work with 4 wheel discs?
« on: September 03, 2015 - 01:20:22 PM »
I believe the master cylinder I have is a disc/drum type. This car has discs all around. Does this master cylinder work with 4 wheel disc brakes? Do the reservoirs need to be the same size? Thanks Jim

That master will work IF you remove residual pressure valve from behind the brass fitting where the line connects , use a drywall screw to thread into the fitting & pull it out , there is a small rubber piece in behind the fitting that is the residual pressure valve , the reservoir should be bigger for disc brakes but rear discs wear slowly & these cars do not get a lot of miles so check the level of the reservoir once / year or so , more often will not hurt .

Thanks CP, I just pulled the brass fitting and the PO had already removed the residual valve from the MC. Do you know if there are any in the proportioning valve? Jim
