AMD under car rebuild
« on: August 05, 2015 - 04:08:14 AM »
I'm guessing many of you have seen the episode of graveyard cars where they sent a cuda to AMD and they rebuilt the under carriage .I have a numbers matching 383 Cuda very rusty undernieth . Needs front and rear frame rail , floors , quaters , trunk , firewall about 7 grand in parts .I wonder how much to install . Would AMD even do it or was that something special for the show ?

I considered a doner car which would probably cost about 12 grand from what I've been seeing . Would keeping the car numbers matching be worth the extra cost ? Just thinkig about it right now in case I win a lottery or something . :horse:

On the AMD website on the left of the screen just above industry events they have installation centre if you click on this and then click on estimate then select the vehicle it will give you the cost of each panel and the cost to fit the panel.

I was at AMD,s web site and ball park 15 k sounds like a good guess . So the way I see it I have 2 choices .

1( Use a donner car, save about 3 grand plus any extra  any extra parts . Plus it,s a good point a donner will need some metal . This would not be a numbers matching  car .

2)Get my car patched up . It will cost a little more in the begining but might even be cheaper in the long run . I tend to think AMD would do a good job . This car would be numbers matching .

Just for fun lets say we have 2 car both the same . How much more would the numbers car be worth ?

I'm strongly considering having AMD do at least some of the work on my cars.  The Barracuda needs a trunk pan and drivers floor pan or patch, plus I have weld in frame connectors to install and I want it done right.  If these areas of the car aren't done right the structural integrity is going to suffer.  Do you have an AMD shop near you?  I'm in Atlanta so their main location in Buford, GA isn't too far for me.
