How far should exhaust tips stick out
« on: August 11, 2015 - 12:21:21 AM »
Does anyone know how far, factory wise, should the exhaust tips stick out from the valence on a Challenger? Thanks.

I hung my new exhaust on my Challenger over last Winter and during this process, I asked the same question and started collecting pictures on the internet. I found that the answer was all over the place. I will attach some photos. This one is shown as a concourse restoration. The following pictures are some showing the tips sticking out at different lengths. I was told that is was personnel opinion so I tucked mine in close to the valence.

Mine looks like this setup. I kept mine tight to the valence (vertical) and only sticking out maybe 3/8" on the top of the tip to the valence.

Mine stick out a bit further than the last pic. It's a Magnaflow system and I think it's too far. Plan on shortening it but just haven't got it done yet.

YO7, do you get any exhaust deposits on your bumper with the tips in that close?

No deposites. I just wiped it down over the weekend and did not notice any.

Note: All of the above pictures were copied from the internet. If I stole your picture, then thank you!  :)

Thanks for posting great pictures! I personally like it sticking out just a little past the valence but not too short.  Thanks.

Hey, that's my car!  Just to clarify: the photos show the tips when the exhaust was cold.  When the exhaust heats up, expansion occurs causing slight lengthening of the system.  Hence, when the exhaust is at maximum running temperature, the tips stick out beyond the valance about .75" - 1".
