1970 Challenger R/T 440 U-code
« on: September 20, 2015 - 08:51:31 AM »
I met someone who has a black U-code 1970 Challenger R/T with a 440 4-barrel and 4 speed transmission. Non-AC car. It is completely restored to factory spec and, while I'm not sure, I believe the engine and transmission are numbers matching. Such a cool car! Out of curiosity, how much would something like this be worth for sale or at auction?

A black 440+6 V code 4spd six pack would have a hard time getting $80-$90K  :2cents:

There was a yellow U code RT/SE auto on here that did manage to get closer to $70K so I'll admit, maybe I'm a little low, however that car was bought by a very ambitious buyer who soon after regretted his purchase if I remember the story correctly.

A huge amount of the value depends on matching numbers, documentation and of course the quality of the restoration....Does it have the correct battery or PolyGlas tires ? Those are two of my personal pet-peeves with "restored" vehicles.

It was all done by Precision Images, and David Wise inspected the vehicle for authenticity and correctness and put out The Wise Vehicle Inspection Report on it. I do not know if it has the PolyGlas or the correct battery. I also forgot to add it has a Dana 60 Limited slip Sure Grip with 3.54 gears

Here's one that is more in the price range your talking about yet it's a V code 4spd http://showyourauto.com/vehicledetail.php?Challenger-342

Here's one in the same price range but only a U code 4spd. (been for sale for awhile now)

Of course these are factory black 4spd cars which is the two most important features of the car you're inquiring about. :2cents:
