70 cuda 340 shaker value ?
« on: June 30, 2015 - 12:15:25 PM »
I am not sure if this in in the correct topic board or not but i am trying to find a value on a car that i wanna buy.
1970 correct FJ5 limelight, #s match 340 ,N96 shaker hood,#s match 4 speed, buckets with lap and shoulder belts,am/fm radio, painted bumers, road lamps,6 way drivers seat, rallye dash, rallye wheels, power disc front brakes,60k miles.   All number matching ,all factory panels on car.   The down side is it has been restored 10 years ago in factory color.  NO rust but here is mud in the quarters but being a shaker car i dont wanna miss out.  Any idea on value ? I dont wanna lowball and miss my chance at owning it and i dont wanna over pay.   I do not know how many N96 340 70 cudas were made or are still around .Thanks
fender tag,build sheet complete.
As for pics-The guy is a little odd and will not let me snap a bunch of pics and so far he likes me and i wanna keep it that way. The car looks very nice & runs strong.
Would i be crazy to start out at 55k?

I think $40k would be more appropriate.

For comparison check the NADA for a guide: http://www.nadaguides.com/Classic-Cars/1970/Plymouth/Cuda/2-Door-Hardtop-340/Values

This one sold for $40k last year maybe an older restoration too (don't forget to add commission fees)

This one sold for $50k last July and appears to have a new restoration more like a high #2 condition car but non-numbers:

I would think an original shaker car will probably bring $10,000 or so more than a non shaker car. This is a local one to me and the guy has been trying to sell it for quite awhile now. Its project and I think it would've sold easily at around $25,000.

I believe a 1970 340 shaker cuda is a very rare car but I would love to know where people come up with their production numbers
(28) I have seen production numbers on total shaker cars produced per year but never broken down by engine ect
I have a 1971 340 shaker cuda and often hear that 60 of them were produced but have never been able to find documentation to back or prove that

I agree on the production numbers.

I'd bet the reason he doesn't want pictures is that theres something not right with the car and he doesn't want it known. My .02 is that its a fake fender tag and was never an N96 car originally. Do your homework before forking over that kind of dough.

If you are willing to drop $55,000 buy a nice 71 340 Cuda. Your money will be better spent and the potential for upside is greater.
A 70 shaker Cuda is a nice car but it does not trump a nice 71 Cuda

I came across this thread and have a similar  question. I am looking a 71 340 cuda original n96  shaker car. It needs full resto non mumbles motor. He wants 28k. It is a 4spd car but my question is how much more does the  n96 option add to the value of a 340 71 cuda? Is there any proof on how many were made with the n96? Thx.
