I see them at Carlisle every year and up here in Canada at Moparfest. I bought just the spacer this year at Moparfest but haven't installed it yet.

Saw them at Moparfest this year and picked up the same set as above.

I installed mine a few weeks ago.

Looks like good stuff.

I installed it as a preventative measure.  Never really had a problem, but I could hear the fuel in the bowls percolating away after I shut the car off on hot summer days.  Seems like good insurance!

Thanks all for your comments and suggestions. The Charger had fuel starving issues and vapor locked when hot. It only had a 5/16" fuel line with a stock mechanical pump.  I added a new sender and a 3/8" line as the main and converted the 5/16" line to the return all run through a 3 nipple filter. I also swapped the pump for a high flow from 440 source and installed a new pump rod while I was at it.  I knew the Eddy 600 cfm carb and the Performer 440 intake were a limiting factors, but I also knew the line running next to the block was contributing to the vapor lock. When I removed the Performer 440 intake it did not have the heat crossover blocked, or ANY gaskets or sealant.  So the new Fel-Pro valley pan will block the heat crossover, the Cool Carb will provide heat protection for the bigger 750 cfm carb, and the line re-routed away from all heat sources along with the DEI wrap should help keep the fuel cool.

- Cudabob, I wanted to add a spacer but all 2nd gen 440 Chargers have extremely limited hood clearance, so that was an issue.  Neil told me about the Cool Carb solution which was perfect, complete protection for the carb AND very thin.

- Dodj, I have only had a couple of runs but so far there have not been any fuel staving or vapor lock issues.

- Katfish,  I did take some temps with a laser heat gun and once I get the engine hot on a warm day I will post the before/after shots.

- Larry4406, I'm not sure what that plate is called but it appears to try to block the heat from the carb but it does not reach under the carb, just up to it and it does have an angle cut.  My block is dated '67 if that helps.

- tman, no torque straps but I installed the Mag Motor Mounts from Mancini a couple of months ago.  These are fantastic in helping control the engine from rocking due to torque. I also have a small section of rubber fuel line between the hard line and filter so hopefully there will not be any issues with the line and engine torque.

The intake and carb absolutely helped wake up the 440.  I don't have any specs on the Purple Cam from the PO, but it looked clean with normal wear to me.

It's basically a huge heat sink.   Sweet!

Not a heat sink , heat sinks are alum & absorb the heat , generally having large surface area / fins to release the heat .
it is a polymer that reflect heat & isolates the carb so heat is not transferred up into the carb . if the results on their website can be duplicated there will be a large drop in temp between the heads & carb temp , they also make intake gasket to isolate heat ransfer to the intake .

Image the plate blocks the heat from rising.

The heat will still be around the carb but not directly over the carb.

It is or mine is anyhow aluminum on the outside and what appears to me nylon in the center?

I remember a phone conversation with this gentlemen that he stated the material is used in the electrical industry to insulate against heat in electrical cabinets.  I found an old email from Coolcarb stating that this material is good up to 300 degrees.

My carb is much cooler now than it was before the shield/spacers were added. My first couple of drives I would stop the car after it got up to running temp (195) and then I would raise the hood and I would wrap my hands around the carb and it felt cool to the touch. It was strange that the carb felt this cool.

This shield/spacers have helped a lot after shut down but I still get some fuel that evaporates out of the bowls if I keep the hood closed after driving the car. If I pop the hood after a drive and allow the engine to cool, my bowl levels barely drop.

It's actually two outer aluminum layers with a poly-core, both in the large heat shield and spacer (see pic below).  The entire kit also comes with 3 gaskets to go between the intake and heat shield, heat shield and spacer, spacer and carb.  You can also order studs with a alley head cap.  Total cost shipped was about $90.  I should have a chance to drive and do a temp measure this weekend and will post before/after pics.

Can't wait to hear the results.
My Edelbrock gets carb boil when it sits after driving and is hard to start.
Maybe this would solve that.

I had a chance to run the Charger around today and measured the temps again.  Both times the engine temp was 195 after 30-45 min of driving in traffic around town.

Before the Cool Carb shield the Eddy carb temp was 148.  After the Cool Carb the Proform carb temp was 127.  So about a 20 degree drop, or 15%.

ceramic coated headers lower heat alot, as well as a well vented engine compartment

Awesome , they are nice & thin but provide significant heat insulation , they told me they are working on a 6 pack isolater too  :2thumbs:
I bet this would help 4C with the heat soak problems under the shaker scoop also.
