Muscle Car of the Week - 340 Cuda Vert
« on: December 21, 2015 - 05:51:04 PM »
Good story and video on this Cuda Muscle Car of The Week.  However, I did not know the 340 was the base engine on the Cuda.  Maybe someone here knows.

See Barry's website here:

http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/dealerships/1970SalesmansPocketGuidesPlymouth-01.shtml
for Cuda

and here:

http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/dealerships/1970SalesmansPocketGuidesDodge-01.shtml
for Challenger.

By these books, the 383 was the base engine in both the 'Cuda and the Challenger R/T.
In a 'Cuda, the 340 was a no cost option, whereas the 340 was not available in the Challenger R/T.

Side note:  The 1970 FSM lists the 383 as the std engine, and does not have the 340 as a listed option.  Service manuals have to be published early, so maybe the 340 was a later option addition? :dunno:
Barry undoubtedly knows.

I live by this guy in the video. He is mainly a Chevy / GM builder. He is in very tight with a Chicago family that allows him access to their collection for his web series. His shows are entertaining, but Chrysler is not something that he specializes in. His specialty is the 69 Camaro, like a zillion other "builders".
